Turquoise!! & a new way to make an adjustable ring!

I saw this pic floating around the web, and loves the color so much I decided to incorporate it into my resin pieces. This is what I came up with.
A small grouping of "testers". I love the color, and some of the pieces will be turned into pendants, earrings, and charms.
I love how imperfectly perfect this piece turned out. Normally you try to remove all air bubbles from the resin before it cures (hardens). But I like how they make this piece shimmer against the rich background.
Here's another view. I achieved this look by pouring clear resin first, and without removing any bubbles, I let it cure for about 2 hours, then I added the colored resin.

I wanted to create a ring that was "adjustable", without having a separate base that you squeezed together or pulled apart to make it fit. I designed this ring in a ribbon pattern so it is very comfortable and adjusts up or down to be worn comfortably on any finger.
I added prongs at the top and these prongs are inserted into the resin during the last part of the curing stage. This piece is very imperfect because I underestimated how stiff my resin actually wasn't, so it sank too deeply for my taste. But I love the concept, so I'll definitely do it again!

Hope you enjoyed, leave questions and comments below!

Frey Wille Inspired charms!

I don't know when my love for all things Frey Wille started, but I am in LOVE with everything they have! They offer very high-end enamel pieces; from jewelry to accessories like handbags, and scarves, to men items such as tie clips, cuff links and even fountain pens. All incorporate this very beautiful and elaborate enameling process. And everything is always vibrant and colorful. These are some items I made because I am always so inspired by FW vibrant color palette and art. Enjoy!

A small lily. The turquoise setting can be any color. For this one, I used silver jewelry wire, and hand-painted it using different purples.

This piece was truly inspired by Frey-Wille. I love the colors, but also note the abstract loops and swirls. A nice conversation piece.
Also inspired by Frey-Wille, this abstract butterfly boasts gold wire, multi-colors, and a turquoise base. Other colors can be used.

A sampling of some of my latest work. All pieces are incomplete in that they will be cast into several layers of resin. o if you see something you like, be sure to subscribe to my blog, and also visit my etsy store and ign up for notifications. Thanks for stopping by!

Interested in learning more about Frey-Wille? find them at Frey-Wille, noting that you can only purchase their items in store or by phone, you cannot (CANNOT) order pieces online, so be warned, and don't get ripped off.

Haiku of the Day

This is so me right now...lots of thoughts and ideas tumbling around my head, but my hands can't work as quickly. Then I get overwhelmed, and I remember to breathe, and just relax...it's not a race.
Enjoy!

New cloisonné piece

I've been working on a few new pieces, and this lily is becoming my fave. The pic shows it just before curing, so i have a few things to do to it before its finished, but what do you think?
A tiny lily, using silver wire and iridescent colors.

Introducing "byLillianVernell" on Etsy!

I decided to open a new shop on Etsy. It's called "byLillianVernell" and will carry items from HaikuMornings, and a kids line called GQkids.

HaikuMornings will carry items that feature an inspirational haiku. The items are all customizable unless otherwise indicates in each listing.

GQkids is, as the name states, a line just for kids. I have two little boys, so be aware you'll see mostly things for boys, but I do plan on adding a few girly items too.

Here are a few things that have been added to the shop recently!
A resin pendant that has an "amber" look and features a haiku.
A faux cloisonné pendant made of polymer clay, resin, and wire. It is also hand painted with metallic colors.
This resin pendant is like the first, but also has the added feature of a cloisonné heart.
